#BookBloggerHop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Question:

Are you more likely to choose to read a book based on the synopsis, or the cover? (submitted by Julie @ JadeSky)

Lou’s answer;

I must admit that I am a huge sucker for a beautiful book cover and so if I am being completely honest with you (and myself) I normally pick what I read based on the cover unless it has been recommended to me a lot. I do read the synopsis as well but unless it sounds really bad or is a genre that I just don’t like then I will probably still read it if I like the way it looks!

Let me know what you think! Do you judge from the cover or the blurb? Can’t wait to see how many of you do the same thing!

  • For me of course there are instances where the cover is what initially drew me in but I have never read a book without first reading the synopsis. The synopsis has to interest me before I decide to read a book.

  • I read the blurb, then scan the first few pages. If I like the book, I’ll buy it. However, if the cover isn’t great. a small part of me will silently wish that it had a better cover.
