|| August Wrap Up & September TBR ||

Good morning bookworms and welcome to another wrap up post! We are into September now and it’s getting to that lovely, cosy time of year of thick fluffy socks, pyjamas and hot chocolate!

I had a lovely summer and am just about getting back into the swing of blogging. I worked really hard on it over the course of a few days to get all my backlogged reviews posted so I hope you’ve enjoyed reading those. Things should quieten back down from this week back to just a few reviews each week and I am going to try my best to actually keep on top of writing them so I don’t fall behind again!

So here’s my wrap up post for August! I’m actually super happy with how much I read considering it was a crazy 6 weeks with the kids home from school, trying to work and going on a few little holidays too.

I have a super ambitious TBR for September, I mean it really is an actual mountain but I am excited to tackle as much of it as possible!

|| August in Books ||

Wicked Little Deeds by Kat Ellis – I had such a good time with this YA Thriller! It was so creepy and atmospheric with small town vibes like The Vampire Diaries. The line was really blurred between what was real and what might have been supernatural. I loved it and rated it 4.5 stars!

The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon – The second book in The Bone Season series! I had a great time reading this and thought it was an excellent sequel. I rated it 4 stars!

The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon – Definitely the most exciting and emotional book in the series so far! I rated this 4 stars!

Mark of the Wicked by Georgia Bowers – A quick and easy witchy read! Fast paced and fun! I rated it 3.5 stars!

The Pale Dreamer & The Dawn Chorus by Samantha Shannon – Two really enjoyable novella’s! I particularly liked The Dawn Chorus which bridges the gap between The Song Rising and The Mask Falling! I rated these 4 stars!

Fireborn by Aisling Fowler – This was probably one of my favourite MG novels ever! I loved the characters, the world, the adventure! I was completely absorbed and can’t wait for the sequel! I rated it 4.5 stars!

The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams – This was a beautifully written and researched historical novel with slow burn romance that explores the power of words. I rated it 4 stars!

Curse of the Dearmad by Emma Mylrea – Another super fun MG novel! An under the sea adventure with great characters and a fast paced plot! I rated it 4 stars!

The Other Side of Whale Road by K.A. Hayton – A fast paced book with an interesting time travel concept! I rated it 3 stars!

In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner – An absolutely stunning YA contemporary that is both heartfelt and heart-breaking. I rated it 4.5 stars!

Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko – I am not rating or reviewing this one at the moment. I listened to the audiobook and was disappointed to find that I didn’t like this as much as I wanted/expected to. I am going to reread this month as part of TWR book club that is not a book club and will determine a rating once I have done that.

Vows of Gold and Laughter by Edith Pawlicki – A gorgeous, colourful, vivid indie Asian inspired fantasy. I loved this and am eager to see what comes next! I rated it 4 stars!

I actually managed to read all but three from my August pile so it makes a change to not be carrying over loads of books! I have a few exciting tours this month and a library pile that is near to toppling over that needs to be read and returned so this months pile is actually mostly library books, a couple of e-ARCS and then one or two from my shelf that just keep getting carried over because I keep running out of time. Fingers crossed September will be the month!
