This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it. Easy peasy!
I have a huge “want to read” list on goodreads at the moment so ill be using a random number generator to pick one from the list to talk about. So without further ado….
The magic number is 312! Which means that the featured book this week is The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones. Currently rated 3.78 based on over 20,000 reviews and was published in July 2020.
A tale of revenge, cultural identity, and the cost of breaking from tradition.
The Only Good Indians follows four American Indian men after a disturbing event from their youth puts them in a desperate struggle for their lives. Tracked by an entity bent on revenge, these childhood friends are helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a violent, vengeful way.
Why do I want to read it?
I don’t even remember who recommended this to me now but I think I added it to my tbr around November last year when a lot of people seemed to be reading it. The blurb doesn’t give that much away but there is something really creepy and eerie about the cover and I really want to know what this disturbing event is that connects these four American Indians! It looks to be a promising thriller with a good bit of mystery and violence so. of course I want to read it!
