Top 5 Saturday – Love Triangles ♥

Hello everyone and happy weekend!

Welcome to Top 5 Saturday!

Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of the post.

This week’s topic is:

Love Triangles

I can take or leave love triangles a lot of the time and to enjoy them they have to be done right! This week I am looking at some of my favourite Love Triangles and explaining why I enjoyed them!

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Katniss, Gale and Peeta are a really interesting triangle. I think one of the reasons I like it so much is because it is quite subtle even though it is important to the story. The  main goal in The Hunger Games is of course survival but in the race for your life feelings can become very complex and I loved that in these books.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

I had to include this didn’t I? I know that Twilight is Marmite and you either love it or you hate it. I personally loved it and even though the writing is bad and story is pretty cheesy there is just a certain charm about it and its a firm favourite of mine. I am of course Team Edward!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Celeana, Chaol and Prince Dorian… I am slightly hesitant about including this one as a love triangle but there was romantic interest and so I think it counts!  I remember rooting for Chaol so much in the beginning but this series has a way of twisting everything and your opinions on characters can change in a heartbeat and I love that!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

Tamlin and Rhysand. Enough said! (Team Rhysand, always)

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

Tessa, Will and Jem! I mean I was just SO conflicted! I am glad it was not me who had to choose between these two! One of the very best love triangles in all of the books I have read.

  1. The Infernal Devices definitely has the best love triangle I’ve seen. Unlike you, I would have no problem choosing between Will and Jem – I’m team Jem all the way 🥺😍

  2. I love a good love triangle! Idk I’ve always thought that two boys fighting over a girl was hot! HAHAHA Twilight was super cheesy but it makes me so nostalgic and I feel like it had such an impact on YA and love triangles in general! I have yet to really get into Sarah J Maas…. I’ve read the first two books in Throne of Glass and while they’re good… I just don’t really get the hype yet. Idk

    1. I think ToG started getting really good around Queen of Shadows! It’s not my favourite of her series though and I am a much bigger fan of A Court of Thorns and Roses and her newest Crescent City book!

      1. I have yet to see the hype for any of Sarah J Maas’s books but will probably continue with them. Idk they’re just so long and dont really live up to the hype for me. I have heard that the books get better as the series go on tho

  3. Oh gosh I do love me a love triangle lol. I haven’t ever read the books but I quite enjoyed the triangle in the films of The Hunger Games (I should get to those books at some point…)
