Top 10 Tuesday – Coolest/most interesting jobs in books ♥

Hello, good morning book people and welcome to Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

This week’s topic is Coolest/most interesting jobs in books!

I struggled with this weeks prompt a little bit so I decided to go with jobs that I think are pretty cool and not necessarily  jobs that I personally would want.

Any purchases made via my Amazon affiliate links will result in me being paid a small commission. This support helps me to pay for my blog running costs and is always appreciated but never expected. You can view my Amazon Influencer page **HERE** to browse all the books that I recommend.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Gamemakers in The Hunger Games have a very cool job. They get to plan and design the arena, all the animals and outfits in the games and things like that. It sounds so awesome and like so much fun! I mean if you forget about the part where your designing an arena that is likely to kill other humans anyway! There are also mentors, escorts and prep teams which look like really interesting jobs, again if you forget about the whole killing part!

Scythe by Neil Shusterman

The scythes are such an interesting, crazy and scary concept! I found the idea of regular people having basically murdering people as an occupation fascinating! There is a hierarchy and rules but as with any job people find their own way. I loved this!

the toymakers by robert dinsdale

The Toymakers by Robert Dinsdale

Who wouldn’t want to work in a magic toyshop? The staff here have the most amazing job in the world! The Toymakers themselves are the best though… the toys they create are like nothing you find anywhere else in the world. So amazing!

The Binding by Bridget Collins

Books in this world are a bit of a taboo. To read a book is something to look down upon or fear. A Bookbinder is a person who binds a person’s memories into a book. Every real book is a real person’s life. This was an incredible concept and so I had to include the bookbinders on this list!

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas

Griffin Antiquities where Bryce works part-time for 400 year old witch Jesiba Roga is definitely the sort of shop I’d love to work in! Full of weird and interesting magical artifacts and a tonne of old books! What’s not to love about that?

Christmas at Frozen Falls by Kiley Dunbar

Okay, so there are a couple of really cool jobs in this one. First up is Stellan’s job of running a resort in Lapland! He has gorgeous, cosy cabins, saunas and a bunch of gorgeous huskies to take care of for sled rides! I mean if it weren’t for the freezing cold you could sign me up right now! Then there’s Nari’s job as a travel blogger. I mean can you think of anything better than getting paid to see the world and talk about the places you’ve been to?

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

I think the maesters in Game of Thrones have one of the best jobs ever! Not only are they healers but their job is knowledge and I would love to visit their citadel! I also think that The Nights Watch is very cool even if its terrifying!

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

How could I possibly write this list without including Shadowhunter’s? What an incredibly awesome calling in life it must be to hunt demons that make their way into the world. I think the weapons they use, the outfits they wear… everything about them just screams awesome to me.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

I think all the professor’s have a very cool job! Special mention to McGonagall because who wouldn’t want to be able to turn things into other things? I also think Madam Hooch the flying teacher deserves a mention. I can’t be the only one who would love to learn how to fly a broom and play quidditch?

harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban j.k rowling

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

Last but certainly not least! I mention another Harry Potter book for two reasons. 1) I was really struggling to come up with another favourite (shh) and 2) There is a genuinely really cool job introduced in this book. Can you guess what it is? Surely you can… THE KNIGHT BUS!  Driving that thing must be completely insane and 100% worth a mention!
