Top 10 Tuesday Valentines Day Special ♥

Hello, good morning book people and welcome to Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

This week’s topic is Valentines Day/Love Freebie

Since I don’t tend to read very many romance books I’ve wasn’t able to put together a full list of 10 however these are some of my favourite book couples. Enjoy!

The Selection by Kiera Cass

Have I happened to mention before how much I love this book? Oh… I have? Okay well how about how much I love Prince Maxon? I mentioned that as well? Okay. It never hurts to mention it more than once right? America and Maxon make an amazing couple. I was rooting from them pretty much right from the start of this series! A worthy way to start my valentines special!

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

What would this list be without Claire and Jamie Fraser? The romance in these books is sizzling! At times its enough to make my face turn a bit red! One of my all time favourite book couples!

The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

You either love it or you love to hate it but I had to include this sparkly vampire romance! I am majorly team Edward!

About three things I was absolutely positive.

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him—and I didn’t know how dominant that part might be—that thirsted for my blood.

And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Deeply seductive and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight is a love story with bite.

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward

If you’re looking for a vampire romance thats a bit more adult and… ahem… steamy then look no further! J.R Ward has a huge series of sexy vampires to get your teeth stuck into! I think I am up to about book 14 or 15 right now.

The only purebred vampire left on the planet and the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who killed his parents centuries ago.

But when his most trusted fighter is killed — orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate — Wrath must put down his dagger and usher the beautiful female into another world.

Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn’t there before, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes to her at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of the Brotherhood and blood frighten her. Yet his touch ignites a dawning new hunger one that threatens to consume them both…

50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James

I am probably going to post another unpopular opinion here but I loved this. I remember reading all 3 books in a couple of days… don’t pretend you didn’t love it too! What’s valentines without a bit of Christian Grey right?

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.
Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

You guys are probably getting sick to the back teeth of me posting about this book by now right? Is it my fault that it ticks so many boxes that it can be used in almost every list? Absolutely not! Are you team Rhysand or team Tamlin?

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

  1. I too loved the Fifty Shades trilogy. I remember reading all 3 of them back to back and once I finished them I immediately started it over again because I wasn’t ready for it to be over with. I am team Edward as well and as for ACOTAR, I’ve only read the first book as of right now and I was team Tamlin by the end of that one but everyone tells me I am going to love Rhysand once I read ACOMAF which I plan to do this month.

    1. Oh you are absolutely going to be switching teams by the end of the second book! I hope you get around to it soon and enjoy it! I’m halfway through Mist and Fury now and I love it even more than I did the first time!

  2. Claire and Jamie – of course.
And, yes, I did enjoy Twilight so that could easily have made the list too.
I have to admit though that I really didn’t like 50 Shades.
Hope you’re having a good weekl
    Lynn 😀
